Volunteers Needed

Volunteers will be vital to the success of the World Angus Forum 2009 in Canada.
An undertaking of this magnitude can only be successful with the help of many
Angus breeders from across the country together with families and friends.

Volunteers serving on the various WAF committees have
already put in countless hours of planning.
Now assistance is required to put all those plans into motion.
Can you help?
Whether for an hour, a day or the entire Forum,
our Volunteer Co-ordinator needs to hear from you.

If you can help, fill in our on-line volunteer form (link below)
or contact Heather Misek for more information.

Common questions and answers about volunteering:

Q: If I want to volunteer, do I have to register for the Forum?

A: No, it is not necessary to register. Many of the volunteer jobs will require a substantial time committment. However, if you do register and want to attend the majority of events, there will be plenty of jobs that could require only a few of hours a day of your time or allow you to attend events while on duty.

Q: I will have a display at the Forum; how can I help?

A: Many of the jobs require hours prior to the actual Forum dates. You can prepare welcome packages, or arrive early and help set up in the barns or Marketplace (off-site cattle holding is being arranged for early arrivals). Tear-down help will also be required after the Forum. Or you could be in charge of ensuring signage is in place for a particular event you plan to attend anyway. Assisting in the WAF merchandise booth or a barn lounge would only require a 2-3 hour shift per day if that's the time you can spare.

Q: I plan to register for the Forum and stay at a main Forum hotel; what could I do?

A: If you plan to take in all Forum events, you could assist with hospitality at either the hotel or at Spruce Meadows. Another duty could be the airport “Meet & Greet” for guests arriving from other countries. There is plenty of free time scheduled in the Forum agenda to tour the barns and exhibits and watch the shows and sale - you could help at any of those events. If you plan to watch the Junior show but not the Futurity or visa versa, you could be in charge of getting the awards to the ring or spend a few hours assisting in the Marketplace. There are endless possibilities!

Q: I'm not an Angus breeder. Can I be included?

A: Of course! If you are are an Angus enthusiast, friendly and willing we'd love to have you be part of the WAF 2009 experience. The only requirement is that if you accept a job, we can count on you to follow through.

WAF 2009 will be the largest Angus event ever held in Canada.

Thanks to those who have volunteered to date!
